Parents and grandparents sponsorship program is aimed to achieve the Canadian objective of family reunification. Under this program, parents and grandparents of Canadian Permanent Residents/ Canadian citizens are issued Canadian Permanent Residency and welcomed to Canada. It is a two-stage process. Each year, the eligible candidates provide their names and a lottery is run to help identify the successful candidates. Then the successful candidates are issued an Invitation to Apply and the due process is followed.

It can be a complex process as given the age of parents and grandparents, the visa officer may need additional supporting documents to address any concerns before issuance of the visa. To avoid these avoidable delays later on in the application, it is best to seek professional advice at the onset.

At Kannen Immigration, we understand the importance of family reunification and are happy to advise clients looking to sponsor their parents and grandparents to Canada.
